Table view, forms part of Bloubergstrand is set with full view of  Table Mountain and, continues to grow in popularity by travelers both national and internationally.

 

The wide sweep of Table Bay north of the city will take the visitor through the residential suburb of Milnerton, past the Rietvlei wetlands and onto Table View and Bloubergstrand. The area is collectively known as Blaauwberg.

Milnerton, founded in 1897, was named after Lord Alfred Milner, one time High Commissioner for South Africa. After a slow start, the area began to grow steadily after the arrival of the railway in the early years of the 20th Century. Today, Milnerton is one of the fastest growing areas in the Western Cape, where development has escalated at a phenomenal pace over the past decade. Milnerton is blessed from a residential point of view with spectacular views over the bay towards Table Mountain. The area is well served with a bustling commercial centre, booming residential areas along the coastline and plenty of entertainment.

Table View , is further north, across the Rietvlei wetlands and lagoon which is popular for its abundant birdlife, is the relatively new area of Table View. Popular with young families, Table View is a young, vibrant and growing cosmopolitan community. The beachfront is lined with gleaming apartment blocks, plenty of restaurants, pubs and entertainment venues.

Outdoor activities within the Table View area include the local racing circuit at Killarney which features on the national racing map. On the Rietvlei lagoon, water skiing and sailing can be enjoyed while the beaches at Bloubergstrand are popular with kite surfers. If a round of golf is your preferred outdoor activity, the Milnerton Golf Course offers world class standards with spectacular views off table Mountain.

Bloubergstrand (Blaauwberg) is famous for its endless white sandy beaches and views across Table Bay to Table Mountain and Robben Island. It is located only 20 minutes from Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront, 30 minutes to the Wine Route and the International Airport.

A well developed beachfront offers a variety of pubs, restaurants and other vibrant entertainment venues that come to life as the sun goes down. Major national and international windsurfing competitions are often held at Big Bay, a popular beach resort.

Any one of the many restaurants strung along the beachfront Bloubergstrand provides unobstructed views over the bay to Robben Island, the notorious island prison made famous by retired South African president Nelson Mandela who spent many years incarcerated, along with several of his colleagues for their political convictions.

The area is at the gateway to the West Coast with it's wild flower viewing, water-sports and wind-surfing
